Due to ongoing expansion, Alten Ltd is looking for a deputy chief engineer to join our team in Derby within the rail sector. This is a fantastic chance to join a fast-growing company with strong core values of Excellence, Accountability, Integrity and Service.

Your new role:

As a deputy chief engineer, you will be one of our quality consultants performing on one of our major engineering projects in the UK. You will also be contributing to our development and growth within the rail industry.

As a deputy chief engineer your main responsibilities will be:

• Support the Chief engineer with planned deliverables and dynamic issues as they arise
• Write Driver and Technician briefs to support TCMS functional software release
• Manage the SOT (Single Source of Truth)
• Support service reliability investigations
• Review change requests, modifications and project documentation deliverables
• Lead reliability investigations and establish root causes

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for Engineering, with a result-oriented and proactive mind-set. The successful candidate will have the chance to work on several exciting projects throughout their career with Alten, developing their engineering knowledge as a deputy chief engineer and a consultant.

Experience required:

• Good technical knowledge of rolling stock is mandatory
• 5 years of experience minimum within the rail industry
• Safety, systems engineering and certification background
• Requirement management (use of DOORS)
• Good communication skills

Qualifications required:

Degree in a relevant engineering disciple with demonstrable experience.
