Job Description

What will you be doing? 

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take a leading role in the development of innovative mechanical solutions for R&D and R&T programmes. You will ensure designs are technically robust, meet customer requirements and align with key business objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the definition and delivery of mechanical design solutions for new product development
  • Review and approve design work produced by Product Engineers across the team
  • Support or own one or more Engineering Work Packages for mechanical design activities
  • Provide technical supervision to a multidisciplinary team including Stress & Thermal, Supply Chain, Industrialisation, V&V, Configuration and Quality
  • Act as the technical reporting point for Product Engineers within allocated work packages
  • Ensure solutions meet Design for Manufacture/Assembly and Design to Cost requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across design processes and engineering governance
     

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Experience delivering mechanical design in a complex engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of full product lifecycle and engineering governance
  • Ability to lead reviews and provide constructive technical guidance to peers
  • Knowledge of design standards and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
