As a software engineer, you will join the Bristol team on a hybrid basis to support our activities within the Defence sector.

You will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge embedded software solutions. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of critical communication systems used by defence and government agencies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our products. We have mutliple vacancies on this poject so can consider various levels of seniority.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Embedded Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for defence visual systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and security protocols.
• System Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with hardware components, ensuring seamless operation and reliability.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and other software-related issues to enhance system efficiency.
• Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and validation of embedded software to meet stringent quality and reliability standards.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user manuals.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to ensure successful project execution.
• Compliance: Ensure that all software development activities comply with industry regulations, security guidelines, and customer requirements.

​​​​​Experience, skills and qualifications required:

• Proven experience (2+ Years) in embedded software development using C++
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools.
• Experience of developing safety critical software and DO-178 standard knowledge highly beneficial
• Proficiency in TCP/IP and UDP protocols for network communication
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to obtain security clearance as required for defence projects (UK or NATO citizen, lived in UK for 5+ years)
